The human right to pain relief for the first time decided to legalize in Russia — this item is prescribed in the bill on palliative care. The document approved by government and submitted to the state Duma for consideration. This was stated by the Minister of health Veronika Skvortsova, reports on Saturday, December 8.
“Specifically written to ensure that no one suffered severe pain. Including all possible means, if needed, is a potent narcotic medications,” explained the Minister.
Skvortsova added that the project involves the use of painkillers in emergency rooms, boarding schools for adults, with inpatient, outpatient, home and so on.
On the development of palliative care, the Minister said, in 2018, the budget allocated 4.5 billion rubles.
Palliative care is an approach in medicine that aims to improve the quality of life of people facing serious or incurable diseases. It includes both medical and psychological support.
